Quiet Moments in the Presence of God and "The Card of the Week Winner"

Hello Everyone~

So much is happening around us.  I would say that the majority of the people that I pray for personally, ask me to pray for energy, being able to schedule so they can get everything done, sleep and being able to relax!  How busy we all are!  Some have work, children or grand-children to care for, cards to make, church activities, car-pools, children's soccer or ballet, things to do for your husband's work, cook...just to name a some!

Today please find:

  • Psalm 119:11 and Psalm 119:114
  • Sharing from: Quiet Moments in the Presence of God
  • Announcing the He IS Able-- "Card of the Week" Winner!
Today, I would like to share a passage I read in the book, Quiet Moments in the Presence of God.  It is published by Bethany House.  It gives thought to how we can settle our selves before we read His Holy Word.

"You're my place of quiet retreat;  I wait for Your Word to renew me."
  Psalm 119:114

"There is no better place to be than in the presence of God.  There is no better way to be in the presence of God than to get quiet and to focus on God's love for and commitment to you.  Focus your heart on God's passion, your mind on God's insight, and your will on God's plan and purpose for your life.

Quiet your body as you sit still, hush the nudge to be somewhere else.

Quiet your mind as you shake off the pressures of agenda and schedule.

Quiet your heart as you make God's presence your priority and relegate anything else to lesser importance."

This was taken, word for word, from the Introduction of Quiet Moments in the Presence of God.

"I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you."  Psalm 119:11

When we hide His Word in our hearts it is a deterrent from sin.  This is one reason in itself to memorize Scripture!  But, don't be fooled...memorization of Scripture alone will not save us from sin or the enemy.  We need to do our best to apply what we have learned and stored in our hearts into action in our daily lives...day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment.

My Bible, the Life Application Bible, tells me that this Psalm is the longest chapter in the Bible! The author is anonymous though many think it was Ezra.

The Winner of the He IS Able "Card of the Week" is...
Nichole!!!!  Congratulations!!!

"Traci thanks for posting these cards on your blog. I enjoy looking at them. Tomorrow I am going to go to a different church. I feel as though the Lord is sending me in a new direction. I hope this direction is a good one. I have been looking for a church to attend for awhile now (different from my religion that I grew up with). Because I feel as though God has something in store for me."

  1. Ouch! This message hits home because I don't spend enough "quiet" time with God. I fit into that rush rush life you just described so well. I've really been thinking a lot lately about how I need to manage my time more effficiently , especially where God is concerned. Please pray for me with that.
Congratulations to Nichole for winning the card of the week!

  2. A beautiful post Traci and so true! We do need to be still and know that He is God... and then listen for His direction in our lives... which means spending meaningful time in His Word, looking for truths to apply to our lives, and most importantly, talking to Him in prayer and letting Him talk to us! I highly recommend the Inductive Method of Bible study if anyone is looking for a good way to study Scripture. You can google it and find info from Kay Arthur on this method of study.
    Blessings!
    Hugs,
    Grace

  3. Congrats to the winner:) What a beautiful note she left last week! I hope that her new church was what she was looking for (or where God was taking her!).

I loved the passage from your book--I know I need to spend more time with God--I try to do my daily devotions but I know there needs to be more time. I once heard that you can double your time if you double your time with God:)

Hope you are doing well! Love, Sav
