The Purpose of Life: Is it All About Me? BIG SURPRISES on Wednesday!

Hi Everyone~

I hope that you each enjoyed time with family and friends over the Thanksgiving Holiday, here in America, and over the weekend!  (Unless you planned on taking a long nap and reading a good book...better yet, The Great Book, The Best Seller Ever...The Bible, over the weekend!)

Today you will find:
  •   Neon Snowman Card
  •   Colossians1:16, Psalm 16:11
  •   Who am I?  Why am I here?  The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
  •   Will you join the Card Fund Raiser the American Cancer Society?
On the right you see a super quick card.  I used a snowman stamp, which my niece sent me a page full of images of...as well as using my Spellbinder's Nestabilities Classic Oval Large to cut and layer those colorful ovals.  I used some snowflakes from years gone by, and some incredible ribbon from "Wrights."  It is the ribbon that is basted-- to gather...but I only wanted a 3" piece, and only had a bit of ribbon, I just cut the basting out.  A quick "Season's Greetings" and some child will be happy!  The inside is the neon green, with some random snowflakes falling here and there.  It is 78 degrees here today...a little chill in the air would probably be welcome by all!  OK--some!

I  have been re-reading the book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, and published by Zondervan. It was written to help let us know where to find the BIG answers to the BIG question! Why am I here? What am I here for?

"For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible...everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him."  Colossians 1:16

Mr. Warren goes on to tell us we make a mistake from the very beginning of our search. It is not about us! It is ALL about Him! So, self help books that just line the shelves in every book store...all start off at the wrong point. They all go to the thought that WE (the humans) are the starting point. Hello? WRONG!

Mr. Warren writes,"The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose ."

(Note:  ,Mr. Warren did not capitalize the word 'his" when referring to God, in his book, therefore, I am not when quoting him, even though I believe that whenever using a word to mean the Creator of the World and so much more...I use a capital letter indeed!)

We were made by God and for God!  Until we realize this important, basic point, we will never get any further.  It all starts with Him!

Mr. Warren goes on to write, "God has not left us in the dark to wonder and guess.   He has clearly revealed his five purposes for our lives through the Bible.  It is our Owner's Manual, explaining why we are alive, how life works, what to avoid, and what to expect in the future."

"You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever."  Psalm 16:11

Pray.  Read.  Listen.  Basically, I believe that is what He wants us to do when faced with questions or concerns.  The listening part is just as important as the praying part.

So, please, open up those Bibles.  Don't wait until the children are asleep all of the time...though that may help with the "Listen" part.  Let them see you refer to the Bible through life...so they will.  Buy them a child's Bible.  And, when there is a particular issue...let's say "picking on their sibling", show them where to look, and perhaps read it together.  Please don't leave all of your child's Spiritual Readiness up to their very talented Sunday School teachers.  You come first in their lives.  They won't have the tools they need in life, if you don't show them, and show them how to use it...how to pray, read, and listen...quietly.  Please think about that!

I have a wonderful surprise to share with you on Wednesday...it includes a Special Give  We will have the "Card of the Week" Give-Away, and this other give-away, also!  I hope you will be here...it will be exciting!-Away!

Most of you know that I am assisting my mother in the American Cancer Society's FundRaiser.  They help people with all types of cancer, and they help build awareness also!  My Mom is the Chair of the Event.  I am only putting together and holding a card drive and could really use help in a big way or a little way, and I would greatly appreciate your assistance.  I only need 39 more sets (10 cards and envelopes) in a set, by the beginning of next week or as close to it as possible.  PLEASE, even if you can only send a couple of cards, they will be put to great use.  If you can send a set or 2 of blank or lined cards...all of the money raised goes to the American Cancer Society's Re-lay for Life here in East Orlando.  Please read the side bar... which will be detailed there until next Tuesday for any information.

This is a wonderful way to live out the following Scripture:

Matthew 25:35-40:
" For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

I thank each of you for stopping by the He IS Able blog.  I really love to read your comments.  It doesn't have to be about the post.  I'd love to hear how you share Jesus with your children or grandchildren.   I would really love to hear your thoughts about the Lord.  That is what the blog is here for.  I would love to know if you saw anything differently today.  Where did you see Him today?  Give me an example.

I would love to really build up the community part of this blog.  I would love for someone to share their thoughts on Christmas, Christmas Past or the Christmas Season, next Monday. I would like to continue this with different people, on each Monday through December.  Please prayerfully consider doing this. It is a truly a blessing! It doesn't need to be scholarly...just share from the heart.  Or your favorite Verse and Why...you name it.  If you are interested...just send me the email.  Please have a contact email, so that I can reach you if I have any questions.  I will post it next Monday for you.  Please contact me with your name as soon as possible, so I can save a Monday for you!

If you have family visiting you for the Holidays...maybe share this blog with them.  Maybe it will interest them, or share something they have needed to hear all of their life!

Remember, BIG SURPRISES on Wednesday!

Reminder:  Hanukkah begins Wednesday evening at sun down for your Jewish friends.  It is a minor holiday...but has built up importance commercially here in the States.  The main theme is "Dedication."  A "Happy Hanukkah!" greeting is wonderful.  Remember, Jesus was a Jew, also!

He IS Able!
Traci S.

"May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you all of the days of your life." Numbers 6:24-25.   I love that Verse...

Please let me know if you are signing up to share on a December Monday...and if you think you will be able to help me with the card drive to help end cancer.  Would that be a huge blessing?!!  It would!!!!

Saturday: Cards by Traci

Hello~

Yes, I finally had time to finish a couple of new cards!  I have spent so much time making the same cards over and over.  Once card takes me and hour just to color...the time adds up!  I hope that you are all having a wonderful time making cards celebrating the Birth of our Savior...Jesus the Christ!

I have  the same dilemma each year.  Because Dave and Josh do not celebrate Christmas, I need to make cards that are not religious.  The card represents all three of us.  I do make cards about Christmas.  I send them to my Christian Friends, and relatives on Dave's side of the family.

Either way, I hope you enjoy taking a look at the cards made yesterday.

This was a fun card to make.  The mittens are really about 3 inches in length.  The set was made by EK Success.  The papers were used from paper purchased years ago, with an unknown name now.  I used the "Swiss Dots" embossing folder on the strip of white paper.  And, I attached the mittens with some white Offray 1/4" ribbon.  A quick "Season's Greetings" stamped image by INKADINKADO.  The card is a square 5 & 3/4" x 5 & 3/4".  I called the U.S. Postal Service to double check the postage on one ounce square envelopes this Holiday Season.  You need a regular 44 cent stamp, and an additional 20 cent stamp.  I asked why that was.  (I was curious, I have heard lots of rumors.)  The reason is because it needs to be hand processed.  They do not fit in their machines.

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ reminded us that we are to be thankful for everything, not only on big days like Thanksgiving or Christmas. I can honestly say that I have so much gratitude for even the smallest things. I am still so excited that the Lord of All-- unsealed my eyes to see His Greatness and Truth!  If I see a rock I wonder why it was made so pretty, or why He created a rose to smell so good. And, I just thank Him for things great and things small. I probably thank Him for people the most, after thanking Him for Saving myself and others, and for dying on the cross for my sins. UNBELIEVABLE!  And yet, so true!  Praise Him!

This is another square card...the holidays make me want to have a larger canvas to play with! The ink was Marvy Le Plume Markers in Pine Green and Peacock Green, and I used Reeve's Water Color Pencils in Light and Dark Brown for the ground. I used a stamp from Judith for the trees.  The larger stamp is perfect for this challenge, a friend gave it to me and I love it...it is from Ann-ticipations! I added a small SU! "Noteworthy" stamp, a simple "Thank You." I am thankful for this challenge! SSIC # 66 Psalm 107:1 was the shared Scripture.

This tag may look familiar. I posted one almost identical to it a few weeks ago. I did a couple of different things to it. I just love this Our Daily Bread Designs cardinal from the Sing For Joy set! Instead of cutting out the cardinal and branches, I left it in a basic square shapes and used my Crafter's Companion paper cutter to cut that scallop edge! It took me about 1/2 of a second to spin the dial showing the different cuts. I then layered that on a square of co-ordinating green paper. I think these layers add a nice touch to these pieces. The ribbon was then tied in a loop, giving the possibility of being placed on a door knob, a pin on the wall, or hang it anywhere!  I thought of putting a candy or cookie recipe on the back, with our best wishes, and a bag of the goodies! I'll have to see how time goes by!

I made some of these cards in the SCS Christmas Card Challenge.  I have been changing it up a bit while I make more.  Some have a sunset/sunrise in the background...and Stickles give a great appearance not only on this hills, but on the trees and houses.  This card always takes me a while to color, I never know what colors I want each individual to wear that day!  Some of the cards have a plaid fabric blanket in the sleigh rather than a colored one!

*****************************************************************

Well, that is the start of my weekend. I am working on some children's cards right now. I am taking a break from measuring, and photographing! I hope that you have a blessed Sabbath tomorrow! I am very grateful that you come by...and I love to read the comments you leave--any feed back is worth considering!

Please consider making 1 or more cards for this Card Drive I am doing for the American Cancer Society. I started out needing 50 sets by December 2nd. I now only need 39 sets (10 cards and envelopes)! Every cent goes to the American Cancer Society and their Relay for Life in East Orlando in April! My Mom is the Chair of the event. I am helping out. I appreciate all of your help, too! It's not too late...the cards can be of any theme, and blank or lined on the inside. Please read yesterday's post (11-26-10) to get the mailing details and such. You are all so appreciated! Thank you for posting the information on your blog for a day!

This act of service reminds me of Matthew 25:35-40:

Can you believe it? Friday is "Cards by Traci Day!"

Hi Everyone~

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Today is Friday, and "Cards by Traci" day.  Can you believe that I did not get one new card done this week?  I made copies of several of my cards.  However, not one new card...YET!

I plan on spending the day making NEW cards.  So, please stop back in tomorrow...and see what I have come up with!  Have a beautiful and blessed day!

He IS Able,
Traci S.

Matthew 25:35-40 states:
" For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

If you are making any cards, bookmarks, or tags this week, please remember that I am collecting card sets, and individual cards to raise money to hold the American Cancer Society's Re-Lay for Life event here in Orlando, Florida in April.  My first opportunity to sell cards is the 2nd week in December!  Please send them out to me as soon as you can.  They can be any type of card.  Preferably blank or lined on the inside.  Every cent will be going to help people with ANY type of cancer.  My parents are both cancer survivors, so this is VERY important to me.  If you want more details, including my mailing address, please read the section below!  Thank you so much for any help you can give!

Here is the complete information:
Help Wanted!!!  I am reaching out to fellow card makers to help me with a fundraising project for the American Cancer Society.

My Mother is the Chair for the American Cancer Society's Re-lay for Life! It is held this coming April. She is in charge of the Orlando relay (East Orange County.) It is one of their largest fundraisers. It a beautiful event. This is a 24 hour event. It is held to help people with any type of cancer...and they also promote awareness.
The first lap they have the Survivors...which includes both of my parents walk. Then they have everyone walk a lap. The lap is a mile. There must be someone on the track at all times! This is being held on a high school's track...which has a special component in it. The track absorbs the impact of each step. That is very cool! I used to run a lot!
My Mother has met with the different clubs of this high school and the kids are participating by sleeping over...and walking when there is a spot without someone walking...perhaps at 2:18 in the morning!
My mother was assigned an area of 2 miles where she can go to businesses and ask for donations. Sadly, her area has about 5 businesses only. A Dollar Store, a pawn shop and I don't know the others. She needs to raise money for tents...12, I believe, tables, food, water, Gatorade, tablecloths and more. Every thing that they need for that day...they need to raise money to buy the items. The American Society does not provide them.
I offered one fundraising idea of making baskets with cards, note cards, envelopes, pen, stamps...and sell them. She would rather...and I have accepted ...that I sell sets of stamped cards. I am putting 10 cards in a set,
with envelopes, and tying them together with ribbon. I have 2 opportunities to sell the cards...One is the end of the 2nd week in December! The other is at the event in April. I need to have 50 sets of cards by the 2nd of December. I need another 100 sets by mid-March. I sat down and started making cards...there is no way I can make those cards on my own! What was I thinking?!!
I NEED HELP, quickly! So, I am asking friends, and some of the other stamp blogs that I love, and you-- to please donate as many cards as you can. Every cent raised will benefit the American Cancer Society. The sets can be made of the same card, or an assortment. If you were to send individual cards, I may put them with other similar cards from someone else. I am asking you, if there is anyway you and your friends could please help out! I would love the help! I thank you for even considering to help.
Stopping cancer is close to my heart. Please let me know what you think. And, just to be clear, these cards are not for the He IS Able blog. They are all for a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I do however, believe, that He-- IS able to stir your hearts to help out. Send a set of cards, tags, or bookmarks. Send 2 sets. Send 2 cards. Anything is helpful!
If you have any questions, please email me. Thank you so much!  It is for a great cause.

Remember,
He IS Able,
Traci S.

Please mail cards in a plastic bag, to prevent them from getting wet, and in individual cello bags or clear envelopes if possible, and send them to:

Thanksgiving and the Winners!

Hi Everyone~

Thanksgiving Day.  Thanksgiving.

Webster's Dictionary has a definition for the word, "thanksgiving."  Let's take a look.  I pulled this 12" wide book off of our bookshelf.  Heavy!

"thanksgiving- n.  the act of expressing thanks esp. to God"

I am thankful for so many things.  I am thankful for my loving husband, my incredible son, Joshua.  Dave's adult children, Kim and her husband Ed, and daughter...my granddaughter--Jillian.   Matt, Lula and their 3 boys--my 3 grandsons...Zachary, Matthew Thomas jr., and Gregory Allen.  And, for Jon.  Who I miss.  He lives in TX. I am so thankful for my family.

I am thankful for the get-together we had for my Dad's birthday.  My brother, Marc, came down with his wife, Carol  and one of their children-Emilie. Both of my sisters, Rae-Lynn and Mindy, and My Mom and Dave and I went to Amelia Island for the weekend.  It was nice...all of us being together again.  My brother moved from FL to SC.  I missed Tom being there.  He is my bro-in-law.  I miss Mel and Taylor, and Drew and His wife, and brand new daughter, and Jordi...and Amber...and Isabella.  All nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.

I am thankful for the ocean-anywhere.  The mountains of NC.  The Glaciers and whales of Alaska.  The trees in our yard.  The birds of the air.  I see Him in all of these things and more...and I am thankful.

I am thankful for all of the Christian and non-Christian friends I have made this year, when I found SplitCoastStampers.  I am thankful for SCS, in fact, it brought me to my fascination with making cards, and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ through them.  Who doesn't cheer up when they receive a card in the mail?  I know I get so happy that someone thought of me to give that extra effort.  I became a member of a prayer thread at SCS, and have met and love several women there.  They truly have giving hearts.  They will pray for anything that is important to you.  They amaze me with their God-given wisdom, and I am blessed to be able to pray with them.

I am very thankful for each of you.  I tell you that probably every post.  I mean it.  I am thankful for each of you.  I am so grateful that the Lord put this blog on my heart.  Often I sit here wondering what it is that I am supposed to share. Have you read the only post in June, the very first post?  If not, please do.   And, I feel His guidance.

I am so thankful for this Card Giving Ministry.  It puts together 2 of the loves of my life...cards and Jesus Christ.  Remember, the Mission Statement for this blog, and I hope for you is "Sharing His Love, His Word, His Gift of Salvation....through Card Give-Aways!  Basically, that is sharing anything about Him.  How wonderful is that?  Very wonderful.

I am thankful every time that you leave a comment.  I know that you are here, and I am not wasting my time.  That's how I used to think.  Now, I know that I need to say these things, because I need to be obedient to Him.  I told Him I was ready for a card ministry...and He fed me.

He brought women into my life to help me grow as a Christian woman and some who are able to teach me how to blog, and what to write sometimes. Thank you Michele and Wendy and Joan and Grace, and Deb, and so many women who have been at my side in this.  I am thankful for the people who pray that this to reach people who for one reason or other need to hear it.  It's not about how many comments there are...it's about me doing what I have promised, and being thankful for the honor to serve Him in this way!   I admit I like when there are comments, I love giving away these gorgeous cards that people have donated for the blog!  And, I hope you use them to encourage Christians to be bold, or non-Christians to listen about Him.

I am thankful for so many reasons this year.  I will do what the definition says.
I am not going to get all caught up in the food this year.  I am going to spend time with my Lord, my Friend, my Savior and  I will express my thanks to Him.  And, THEN I will eat.

Thank you for all you do to keep this blog interesting.  For the things you may send me of interest.  For your prayers.  For standing in for me when I was so sick.  Thank you all for being here.  I mean it.  Do you realize how important you are to me now?

BIG NEWS!!!  EVERYONE WINS!!!

Everyone who left a comment this week will win a beautiful card to share your thoughts about Jesus with someone you know!

Cathy Kraft--you win the Gorgeous card on the side bar,

If for some reason you'd rather not have a card, then simply don't send me your address! That easy! You can still visit.  Still leave comments.  You can still become a Favorite.

Oh, if you would like a card, simply copy and paste our badge at the top of the right side bar, and leave it on your blog!  Leave me a comment with your blog address, and I will send a card out to you for your use!  That's one way I can thank you for bringing your readers to this blog.  It isn't about the numbers like I said earlier.  However, the more people that are here...the more they read Scriptures in the post...the more something may catch their attention...and maybe they want to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior.  It can all happen just like that!  True?  True!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!  Please be safe, and remember, it is Christ Jesus that you are most thankful to, hopefully.

Please leave a comment of something unusual you are thankful for!

Thanksgiving it's not just a meal!/Help Wanted!

Hi Everyone~

Has everyone been to the grocery store to get the major ingredients for Thursday's celebration?  Here in the States we will be celebrating Thanksgiving.  A time of Feasts, Family and American Football.  Let's be sure we put the "Thanks" back into this celebration this year, ok?

Today you will find:
  • Hebrews 13:15,  Ephesians 2:8-9, and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • Help Wanted!  Cards needed for the American Cancer Society
I am so thankful for each of you, whether you visit on Monday, Wednesday or Friday, or all 3 days a week! You know that this blog is a ministry to me. I study and pray about what to write. I want to challenge you, but not push you away. I am so thankful for your signing up as a Follower, bringing friends here, and by posting our badge on your blog! You are making my dream come true. You are making this blog a success, because more people are coming and reading the Word of God.  They are also learning about the Love of God, and His Gift of Salvation.  I sincerely thank you for every time you come and leave a comment.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith---and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God---not the works, so that no one can boast."  Ephesians 2:8-9

Do you know that the Lord called you to Him before you even asked for Him to Save you? It is in the Bible right before the famous "Ask, Seek, Knock" Verses. I know this is true. He unsealed my eyes. I was Jewish, and could not see the Truth in Him, until the Lord opened my eyes, literally.

"My Bible reads- When someone you know gives you a gift, do you say, "That's very nice-now how much do I owe you?"  No, the appropriate response to a gift is, "Thank You."  Yet, how often Christians, even after they have been given the gift of Salvation, feel obligated to try to work their way to God.  Because our Salvation and even our faith are gifts, we should respond with gratitude, praise and joy." Life Application Bible NIV

Do you set a special time on Thanksgiving for everyone to say what they are thankful for that year? We go around the table before we eat, and no matter how many people are there...I think 33 people was my Mom and Dad's highest number of people at their home for Thanksgiving Dinner...we tell everyone what we are thankful for.

Do you set a special time a day...every day...to thank God for all of the gifts He has bestowed on you? He tells us to do this in Hebrews:

Hebrews 13:15 "Through Him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess His name."

Maybe start a tradition with your children. Have them write on their personal calendar every day, what they thanked God for that day. Try to help them think of things besides toys and other material things. Even Preschoolers understand the concept of Love. And, you could set the example with your calendar. Perhaps you could have one master calendar where everyone can write their answer on that date, perhaps in "their" color. Start this habit. It is good for you!

"Be joyful always; pray continually give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Have a Wonderful, blessed and Thankful Thanksgiving! And, on Friday...before you go shopping, stop by. I'll be here with some of my cards.

Anything is helpful!

If you have any questions, please email me.  Thank you, and have a blessed Thanksgiving Day...every day!

Remember,
He IS Able,

Friday means "Cards by Traci"

Happy Friday to All~

It's less than a week until Thanksgiving!  I love this holiday it is one of my favorites.  We all gather at my parent's home and everyone brings a dish or two...mostly desserts!  We all love to bake!  lol  One year we had over a dozen different desserts and there were 9 people there!  I feel so grateful that when you know the Lord, you can thank Him any time, any where, about the big things and the little things.

When I was still Jewish,  I didn't have a personal relationship with God, so I only  really prayed unrote prayers on Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) and Rosh Hashanah (The New Year).  These are the two High Holy Days.  The New Year's Celebration has nothing in common with the American celebration.  I am thankful, for being able to thank Him, personally!

Today is Friday, and I am ready to share a few cards with you.  I already shared my card for the Play Date Cafe Challenge on Wednesday!  I would like to share something small with each of you, will EVERYONE please send me your mailing address?  It may take a couple of months...but if I start...I will eventually get to you.  Please email it to me.  And, write "He IS Able" on the subject line.  I will not share your address with anyone anywhere! I promise!

Can you guess who I made this card for?  My Dad!  He celebrated his 70th birthday with all of us on Amelia Island last weekend.  I had some creative help by the writer of the Little Birdie Blessings, Abby.  You really will be blessed if you visit her blog!  She turns everyday letters into works of art!  She did the lettering for this card...it was perfect! She calls it "Word Art." I printed it on vellum paper, put a black and white lined piece of cards stock under it, a white sheet of cs under that and Voila!  A place to share some memories with my Dad!

Abby LOVES Vintage Art and often takes Scripture and adds it to a Vintage photo!  They are wonderful.  She has a lot of  FREE GORGEOUS downloads available to all of us!  When you visit, please tell her you know about her blog from the He IS Able blog!

This is the fun card that I made for my Dad's birthday!  This cute little bear is called "Popcorn the Bear!"  He is one of many different stamps and supplies at one of my favorite stamping sites...Crafter's Companion, if you live in the UK Crafter's Companion has a separate website  here.   I clear embossed this image.  I thought it would help me stay in each tiny little square or color each dot on that fun wrapping paper.  I used water color pencils on this.  I used my Cuttle Bug to emboss that fun "Little Bubbles" folder...and the paper came from 3 Birds!  Isn't this a cute little guy?  Really, you should check their site out.  They are having a huge sale...and "Popcorn the Bear" comes in every different situation you can think of: fishing, carrying flowers, and you should see him in his Valentine's Day image!  I hope you like him.  I re-did this 3 times.  If you have any suggestions...I would LOVE to hear how you would have added color to him.  The wrapping paper was already designed.  I wanted to use Flower Soft on him...but was afraid the shading wouldn't show.

The Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge Team challenged us to make
"Anything BUT a Card!"  So, I made a pretty large tag.  It is 6"x4".  I used one of their stamps from the "Sing for Joy " set...the cardinal!  I colored the cardinal and branch with water color pencils.  I layered a print sheet on the bottom (the stripes, paisley and little faux stitches). red paper across that, and some SU! ivory cs on that.  I cut that piece into a scalloped square with my Crafter's Companion Paper Cutter.  I love it!  You just spin the dial and the blade changes in less than a second!  I plan to put a recipe on the back and attach this to the pumpkin bread with mini chocolate chips or some other goody.  Or, we may put our holiday wishes on the back, and use it like a card for his fellow employees.

This card is for a friend of mine who was just made a Grandmother again, by the birth of a little baby girl.  I loved this heart from Clear Dollar Stamps.  It just seemed perfect for a little baby when I used pastels on it.  The word Joy was part of the set...and it just seemed like the perfect word for this occasion.  I used SU! Pretty in Pink paper, and Loew-Cornell water color pencils.  The Cuttle Bug embossed the SU! White cs with the popular Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.  A little bit of pink satin ribbon and call it a day.   I can't imagine a more joyful experience than bringing a little one into the family!  Congratulations!

Well, so far those are my cards for this week!  I hope that you have enjoyed taking a peek at them.  I hope you will post suggestions on the comment area.  Or, how about sharing something that people don't usually think to thank Him for?   I am thankful for each of you!  And, I am super-excited when you put the He IS Able badge from the side bar on your blog!  Just send me an email with your blog URL, and when I see it...I will send you a beautiful card and envelope from the He IS Able blog!  Why am I doing this?  Because the more people know about this blog, the more they will read about Jesus Christ and His Love, His Word through our Bible and the Gift of Salvation!  Who wouldn't be excited!?

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you will be here on Monday!  I have something BIG I want to share with you!

Fear or Fear Not because He is with us? Read on...

Hi Everyone~

Dave and I went away this weekend.  My Dad's 70th birthday was on Veteran's Day.  (Thank you to all of ourVets and their families for everything you have done for us!)  My mother, 2 sisters, brother and his wife and one of my nieces, and Dave and I went to a beautiful island off Florida's shore.  My Dad was surprised by the whole thing!  (Hopefully! I am writing this Friday night! It's before the weekend!)  We all stayed in 2 big connecting-suites at a resort, brought every game we have ever played, and tried to find out everything we ever thought we would want to know about our Dad!  We haven't all gone on a trip together in many, many moons...I'm sure it was a blast!  I'll let you know the details on Wednesday!

Today's Scriptures are:

Exodus 33:14  "My Presence will go with you, and I will give your rest."

"Fear not, for I am with you; do not look around in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God."  Isaiah 41:10

Last week we learned about how we can never feel alone again.  We also learned about how to have peace that only comes from knowing and resting in Jesus Christ.  Today we are going to read about how we can count on God's presence in our quiet moments.

Let's look at what the Devotional, Quiet Moments in the Presence of God, by Bethany House has written about this:

It tells us that ..."Time after time in Holy Scripture, God promises He will be present when you intentionally draw aside to meet Him.  God's presence is everywhere in the stories of the Bible.  God makes the promise of His presence, and He keeps that promise.  You can stand on the promise of God's presence to be with you.

God will make himself known to you as a living and bright reality.  He will be at your side and will abide there in love and grace.  He will move into your heart to embrace your life and guide your way.  God is present to your needs.

God promises to take up daily residence in your heart."

"You wisely and tenderly lead me, and then you bless me."  Psalm 73:24

Is the thought that He is always with you a pleasant thought, or a scary one?  When you stop to think about it do you feel like you need to be on best behavior because He is right there with you?  I hope so.  Do you hear from the Holy Spirit when you are about to sin...big or small?  The Lord always gives us a way out of sinning.  Just listen to that voice you hear--the first time.  Don't wait until you are already sinning to try to stop.  It is difficult.

Think of smoking.  I don't smoke.  I used to smoke when I was a younger adult, and didn't know the Lord.  It is easier not to start smoking, than to start and stop.  It is the same way with any sin.  Think about it.  What sins have you done in your life?  Would it have been easier to stop if you never started?  Be honest with yourself.  Are you still doing it?  If you are, now is a great time to stop!  Go for it!  Get THAT much closer to the Lord.  When we sin we often feel like Adam and Eve in the Garden.  We want to hide.  We are ashamed. We want space between our self and The Mighty One.  The Omnipotent One. There is no where to hide from Him.

You have people here who will pray for you.  You can email me or leave a comment in the comment section to have even more people pray for you.  You can do this.  He is there with you. What more do you need?  I will stand with you...and be there for you.  I'm not on a stop smoking wagon...although that is a great thing to stop. I am talking about all sin.  Swearing.  Being mean to your spouse.  Adultery.  Jealousy.  Stealing.  You name it.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  Let's try to clean up at least one sin each before then.  Handle it completely. Ask forgiveness when necessary.  Go to the Lord and confess your sins.  It is easier when you have someone by your side.  And, you do.  Let's thank Him for that!

If you write me, to stand with you, and send you encouraging email and such...I will do the best I can.  Please let me know clearly, if I may share your problem, without any identity given to the prayer warriors I pray with.  I will not share an identity with them, and I will do it through email, so it will not be posted here or anywhere else.  I promise.  Or I can pray alone, or alone with you.

Have a blessed couple of days.  I hope that I hear from each of you...and I will share what I am going to stop, too.  After all, we are all sinners, and when we sin...we fall short of the Glory of God.  Let's straighten out our act as much as we can, so we can have those wonderful moments with the Lord Jesus!

This could be the best Thanksgiving yet!  Let's have giving this sin up be something that we are grateful to Him for being with us!

Cards by Traci /Challenge Continues...Hurry!

Good Morning!

Today is Friday, and that means it is the day for me to share some of my cards from this week with you.  I hope you have had time to read this week's posts.  The topics were about Loneliness, and feeling alone--NEVER AGAIN!  And, on how to have the peace that you can only find in the Lord.

I made this card for Al, Michele G.'s Dad's 75th Birthday.  It is our current challenge.  I'm not included of course, I just wanted to share this card with you.

I used SU! White card stock.  I put some through my Cuttle Bug, and created swirls with birds.  As you may remember, all of my cards are size A2 unless stated.  I took a piece of SU! White card stock, and stamped this image on it with VersaFine Onyx Black.   Then I was in a quandary.  I couldn't decide whether to paint it, or use my colored pencils on it.
I ended up using something I bought almost a year ago.  I used my SU! Watercolor Crayons.  They were so easy to use.  I used my finger to blend colors, and extend them.  I like how it came out!  I hope he does!

This stamp reminded me of my son, Joshua Aaron when he was a baby.  My baby is now 21, living in his own condo, and in college!  I think I would need more paper to show an image of him now!  LOL

I love this image.  It reminds me of all that is good.  The background was put through a Cuttle Bug, and the top piece was given to me with some other papers!  I believe it is Mulberry paper, and it has little stars embossed on it!  Just like his jammies!  I believe I used water color pencils with no water on this.  My son has red hair, it has toned down a lot, but this isn't far off from the beginning!

I liked making a thank you note on white card stock last week so much that I made it on some Crafter's Companion beautiful, lavender that has an iridescent type film on it!  I also thought it would be cute to use iridescent ribbon...only it doesn't like to be photographed at all!  I will be making a stash of these.  I really like making the image different.  This has about 9 or 10 different stamps used on it.  And, many different shades of SU! Markers!  I simply traced a circle...left the center open, and stamped around it!  All of the stamps except one is from Judith's Stamps.

I LOVE this color combo!  I may make nothing but hot pink and black card stock cards again! I think the colors are elegant together with that little bit of Stencil Collection's Glitter Glue!  I bought this little stamp for $1 at Michael's!  I didn't know what I would use it for until today!  I used it for a birthday card!  I really like the touch of the black satin ribbon.   I now realize this  stamp would work well for graduation, anniversaries...all for $1.  Doesn't it just make things that much sweeter when you find a good deal?!

I hope you have enjoyed looking at some of my cards!  I hope you have made Al's Birthday Card for the Challenge by now..and you are ready to stick it in the mail.  The deadline is November 15th!

Do something nice for someone...and be blessed by it also!  You could win a Special Goody Bag from Michele, and 10 cards and envelopes from the
He IS Able blog!

If you enjoy this blog, it would be wonderful if you signed up as a Follower.
You won't find your email box full all of the time!  I usually tell people whose emails are known, about big giveaways we are having!  And sometimes on special series or guests we are having on the blog.

If you don't feel blessed by this blog.  Please tell me.  I can't change it, if I don't know what it is...and yes, your individual input is so important to me.  I want all of you to feel comfortable being here.  Challenged?  Yes.  But, comfortable!  :)

"Peace in the Center" and the "Winner of the Card of the Week!"

Hi~

I hope you are each doing well
today.  I am feeling 100% bet-
ter!  Are your days seeming
more hectic?  Trying to squeeze
in making decorations for Thanks-
giving? Doing your Christmas shopping?  Are you making birthday cards because it is near the deadline for this wonderful Challenge on the side bar, and you really want to win the great prize plus 10 cards and envelopes?

Well, if you want real peace in your life.  You need to have Jesus in your heart! It's that simple!

Today you will find:
  • My Card for the Play Date Cafe Challenge, and for our Challenge!
  • A passage from Quiet Moments in the Presence of God.
  • The Winner of the "Card of the Week!"
  • Philipians 4:7, Colossians 3:15
The tag you see at the top of the page is my card for the Play Date Cafe Challenge  this week.  They challenged us to make something using the colors, celery, stucco orange, and white.  I used my word of the year..."Joy" on the tag, and two of my favorite embellishments...pearls and ribbon!

I made this card for Al's birthday!  Al is Michele G.'s father, and we are giving him a Super Happy 75th Birthday!  Just send your card to the address on the sidebar, write "He IS Able" near your signature or on the back of the card...and if he chooses your card as his favorite...you will win!  This way, he will be blessed with a blizzard of birthday wishes, and the winner will be blessed with a Super Goody Bag by Michele, and 10 cards and Envelopes from the He IS Able blog!  Complete instructions are located on the sidebar.

Those cards would be nice to have to use over the holidays...when you don't have as much time to make cards for different occasions!

Philipians 4:7 reads:  "You will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

As you may remember, I enjoy reading several different Books of Daily Devotions.  Today, I would like to share a passage from Quiet Moments in the Presence of God.   It is published by Bethany House.  This passage is called, "Peace in the Center."

"Peace in your heart makes your life beautiful and wonderful. It is the peace God gives when you draw close to Him to receive His love and blessings. This peace counters the turbulence you have elsewhere in your life. It brings the stability of knowing you belong to God and the security of knowing He is with you always.

God's peace comes when you know how much God loves you, how far He goes to forgive you, how many ways he sustains you, and how many generous life opportunities He offers you. God's peace will guide you in the way you should go.

God puts the calm of His presence and the peace of His love at the center of your life.

"The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body."  Colossians 3:15

This peace that Jesus gives...it is an added bonus, if you will, to spending time with Him in prayer, in reading His Word, and with talking to others about Him.  We often talk about getting centered in a quiet area before reading or praying.  But the inner quiet, the inner peace comes from spending all of that time with Him.  Do you have any things on your to-do list that could be done more easily?  If you are supposed to bake 6 dozen cookies for your child's school.  You could make 10 and have another mom make 10, and swap half of the 4 dozen extra cookies.  Then you will have 4 dozen cookies, two types, to give the neighbor's for the holidays.  This way you get it done while you have all of your ingredients and pans out anyway!  Perhaps you can try to eliminate some of the coming and going of this time of year. Do your errands at once.  What else could you do to give you a little time to spend with our Savior?  Doesn't it sound silly that "pick up the dry cleaning," is more important than talking to Jesus the Christ...Our Messiah...Our Lord of Lords!  Maybe our schedules could be shifted a bit.

The Winner of the He IS Able "Card of the Week" is...
Francie G.!!!!!  Congratulations, Fran!
Fran, you have been randomly chosen to receive this beautiful card made by Dawn B., as well as an envelope and postage!  And, you will be eligible to receive next week's card, just by leaving a comment on one of this week's posts.  All comments need to be received by Tuesday at 8pm.  Fran, I need for you to email me your mailing address by that time, also, or you will sadly forfeit the gorgeous card! My email is on the sidebar.)  I'm sorry. I can only mail cards to people living in the United States.  If you are from another country, we would still like to receive your comments!  (I will be happy to mail this on your behalf to a friend that lives here, or mail it to charitable organization.)

Here is her comment:

Never Feel Alone Again! Great Prize for Challenge Winner!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!  Did you spend time stamping with friends?  Get some work done at work?  Did you take time to handle your personal things like: laundry, cooking and ironing things from that overloaded basket?  Did you stay home, maybe sick or hurt, all alone, feeling alone?  Do you ever feel lonely?

Today, a special treat.  I have received written permission from Dr. Jack Graham's office to use his column from October 4, 2010,  here in the blog.  Today is one of those special days.  The topic can be scary.  It is one we don't like to look at.  It is sometimes being lonely.  Alone.

"Yet, I am not alone, for the Father is with me."   John 16:32

"To varying degrees, each of us has felt the pain of rejection and loneliness.  When it comes, it can be completely debilitating.  Such pain may even be yours at this moment.

Perhaps you're isolated in your office cubicle day after day.  Or maybe you're constantly surrounded by people, without ever feeling connected.  OR perhaps you're facing a crisis that no one on earth can endure for you.

"Friend, I'm here to tell you that Jesus knows exactly how you feel.  That might sound a little strange, since Jesus is God, surrounded with multitudes of angels in celestial glory!  But don't forget that Jesus once walked on the earth as a man.

" He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not."  (Isaiah 53:3)
Jesus experienced earth's loneliness to the greatest degree.  Laden with our sins on the cross, he experienced horrific separation from the Father in that moment when he cried,

"My God...why have You forsaken me?"

He suffered it willingly, for the joy set before him-- the joy in knowing that you and I would never have to be separated from God by out sin!  And he sent the Holy Spirit so that even on earth, we will never be alone!"

"And, behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."  (Matthew 28:20)

Let's pray.  Dear Lord Jesus, sometimes I have felt alone on this big earth.  I have felt that no one else exists.  And if they did, why would they contact me?
I thank you Lord for opening my eyes to Your truth, Your Word.  I now know that I will never need to fear being alone again.  For you are with me, Lord Jesus.  I thank you for that.  I praise you for that.  Thank you for always being with me even, to "the end of the age!"  I pray in your loving and protective name, the name of Jesus.  Amen.

That is great news, isn't it?  Once we ask Jesus to come into our lives, we are truly never alone again.  He promises this.  He tells us that He "will not leave nor forsake us," several times in the Bible.  You can count on Jesus.  It's that simple.  You can count on Jesus.  Tape it to your computer.

I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers.  I am about 90% better at this time...I am actually smiling for the first time in a while.  I thank and am grateful for all of you.  This blog means so much to me.  It is a way that I serve our Lord Jesus.  It is a way I can participate in the Great Commission.  I thank you for coming by Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  I hope you are blessed.

This is your blog, also.  Will you consider sharing your thoughts on one of the Monday's in November or December?  You could do it in Memory or Honor of someone. Just write it up and send it to me via my email.   You can share about how you keep Christmas REAL in your home and heart.  Or tell us your Favorite Scripture and Why it is so. Please share how you know that He has helped you through a difficult time.  It is time for you to share...  It is a GREAT way to Serve the Lord, and invite non-Christians in your life to read "your" blog entry.  It could be that final step before they accept Jesus into their hearts!

Take a look at the sidebar!  First of all, who has put that badge or a link to the He IS Able blog on their blog?  Will you please do it today? And then let me know the blog URL so I can come and visit?  (If you have it or are putting it up now...a beautiful card is on it's way to you from the He IS Able blog.)  It is a great way to bring Christians and non-Christians to read and learn about the Love of Jesus the Christ!  You can tell me about the badge in the comment section. You can share anything in the comment section.

And, if you leave a comment before Tuesday at 8pm...you will be eligible to win that fabulously designed card by Dawn B. The randomly drawn winner will be announced on Wednesday!

And,  It is time to make and send a card to Michele's Dad!  That is the challenge on the side bar!  The deadline is coming up...but you could still enter and win a FABULOUS Prize, from Michele G. and 10 cards and envelopes from the
He IS Able blog!  Good luck everyone!  It is a great thing to do...share His love.  It's part of our Mission Statement!

Have a blessed day.  Tell someone how much Jesus loves them today.  Tell someone that they aren't going to be alone again.

Remember~
He IS Able,
