Traci's Favorite Christmas...So Far!

Hi Everyone~

Today, I wanted to share my Favorite Christmas Story.  On Wednesday, I'd like to share about one of the important names in the Bible.  Immanuel.  I have been studying the different names for Jesus--especially around Christmas time. It has been great for me, as it was a different study than I usually do at this time of year. I will save the Immanuel Scriptures for Wednesday.   I hope you will join me here.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

My Favorite Christmas was my first Christmas. I was 29 years-old. I was just Saved in July. I had one decoration. My friend at work, gave me a beautiful yet simple Nativity set. I set it on my TV, so I would think of Him whenever I looked that way...and it was the only furniture in the room!

The man I was seeing surprised me by bringing me to a store, and bought me a not-too-tall Christmas Tree. It smelled so incredibly wonderful. I live in Florida, and all of the plants are floral smelling. Not that deep mountain pine, wintry, wonderful smell! That night we put the white glass lights he bought me to go with it.

Later that night, I was all alone, my son, Joshua, was at his father's home. I took out my Bible to Luke Chapter 2...and I laid down under the tree. I read as long as I could until I was sleepy. I put the Bible in my room, and climbed back under the tree. I slept soundly there! The next night I did the same thing. Read, Prayed, and went to sleep under the tree. I promise this is the truth. That tree probably lost only 50 needles until I stopped sleeping under it, reading His Word under it, and praying under it...it was APRIL of the next year!

It was the most amazing, and REAL Christmas I have enjoyed in a long time. Just myself and the Lord, and His Word, and one of my favorite creations of His...a tree.

Oh--when we pulled the tree out to the dumpster...it lost just about every needle!!! We left a long track!   True Story!

I pray that you are all taking time to know the Lord even better during this special time of Advent.  I would love to read one of your Favorite Christmas stories, or a reason why you are so grateful to know the Lord.  Please email it to me at my NEW EMAIL address on the sidebar.  I will post your story on Mondays...until we run out!  Stories must be received by December 31st to be included in this years 1st Annual He IS Able Christmas Story Time.

He IS Able,

  1. Traci, your Christmas story you shared is so special about your 1st Christmas tree. Talk about miracles, I've had trees that barely had needles at Christmas! LOL.

Last week as I was thinking about how Mary must have felt when she was told she was going to have Jesus. I've always known she was a young girl and could have been stoned. It had never dawned on me that Mary verbally accepted this role as Jesus' mother. I had always thought that this was just placed on her. This revelation just hit me ~ she could have responded as sometimes I have - no way, not me. I'm too young, what will people think, etc.... Instead she said (Luke 1:38) "Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord, let it be done to me, according to what you have said." I can't even explain how these few words have effected my thinking lately.

    Blessings, Catherine
