Good Morning!
Today you will find:
Jesus Tells the Parable of the Unforgiving Debtor Matthew 18:23-25
"Therefore, the kingdom of Heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and
I will pay back everything.' The servants master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
But when the servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.
His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'
But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went "and told their master everything that had happened.
Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said. 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
Well, do you see how mercy played a big part in this parable? Do you have people that you still hold grudges with? Anyone that you may not want to forgive, but know that you SHOULD forgive? Go to Jesus, tell him all about it, how you don't want to forgive, but you know that it is a sin, and would He help you through this? He loves you so much. He will help you.
My Life Application Bible says this: "Because God has forgive all our sins, we should not withhold forgiveness from others. Realizing how completely Christ has forgiven us should produce a free and generous attitude of forgiveness toward others. When we don't forgive others, we are setting ourselves outside and above Christ's law of love." Think about that!
Micah 6:8 states this: "He who has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
"His mercy extends to those who fear Him..." Luke 1:50
Michele G. thank you for all of the information you have given me for this series. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Good news...I am feeling about 80% better! Finally! I go to the doctor tomorrow...and hopefully she will do something, or tell me what to do for that extra 20%! Having all of these notes on Mercy, has helped me keep this blog going while I was seriously ill. Thank you. And, I thank all of you for your prayers for my health and for Dave to find work. He has! He started last Wednesday! So, thank you for all of your prayers.
And, Lord, thank you again, for helping Dave find work, where he is surrounded by Christians. Amen.
