Happy New Year! Happy 6 Month Anniversary to You!

Dear Friends~

I am praying that you all have a fantastic weekend planned with special New Year's activities and your family and friends.  I also pray that you will all be kept safe in the New Year, and spend even more time alone with the Lord every day.  2011!  Wow!  I can hardly believe it!  Time is flying and with it, I believe that the Lord Jesus is wanting us to step out even more boldly and share His Love, His Word and His Gift of Salvation with all of our Family, Friends and even strangers.  I hope we are all up for the challenge.

"Along the way, He encouraged the believers in all the towns He passed through."  Acts 20:2

Today, I want share an excerpt from the book Quiet Moments in the Presence of God, it is published by Bethany House.  It is going to be about relationships.  It may be about changing what your relationships will  look like in 2011.  Take a look and consider if you want to make any changes in your actions in the coming year.

This section is called, "Let Them Know."

"Perhaps the deepest human need is the need to be appreciated.  Love the people God gives you, and let them know you love them.  Affirm who they are.  Encourage who they can become.  Give them your backing.  Be generous with tokens of appreciation.  Be slow to correct and quick to praise.  Treat people as ends in themselves, not as means to an end.

Make some one's day be sending him or her a little note of appreciation.  Call someone o the phone and speak of your affection.  Send an email that supports someone. Because of what you say, people feel better about their lives and live more confidently.  Your words of encouragement put them on their feet and get them on their way.

In the strength of your affirmation, people become themselves."

I believe this is all true.  I believe a bit more, however.  I believe that if we help people become more confident, they will be more confident in sharing about our Lord, Jesus the Christ.  I believe that the more time we spend in His Word, the more confident we become to share the Scriptures, and thus with telling the Gospel to others.  And, I think we all know that the Lord is an amazing source of comfort when faced with trials or tribulations or fear.  The more we know His Word, the better equipped we will each be to banish the evil one...and we will find Victory in Christ...as well as find joy in His company.

Here is the Information on Our 6 Month Anniversary Give-Away!

Traci- I love the stories and scripture that you share! I don't have a favorite verse!

Happy Birthday, Jesus! May all people come and worship!

Anonymous, you have until Tuesday at 8pm to email me with your street address and to tell me that you would like to receive it!  My email is
TraciStarkweather@gmail.com   If for some reason, you are not interested in receiving this beautiful card, simply don't send me your address by Tuesday evening, or if you like, I can add it to the American Cancer Society Re-Lay for Life Fundraiser, where I am trying to raise $5,000 with other cards donated by the very kind and talented card-makers of America!  This Card Drive is not a
He IS Able event, only.  I hope you will accept the card, and use it to tell others of the Love of Jesus, His Word or His Gift of Salvation.  It is amazing, isn't it?

This week's card is GORGEOUS!  It is made by Deb Saaranen of the blog named Dream in Color.  Sadly, I can not get a good photograph of it right now, because I can barely see due to my continued migraine.  I will ask Dave to photograph it tonight when he comes home.  It is a beautiful brown and green, with the most beautiful ribbon on it, and an oval in the center.  On the oval it reads, "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears."  Psalm 34:4   Deb, thank you so much for donating such a special card.  I just love it!  I will get it posted on the side bar as soon as I am able!  Thank you again for your generosity.

So, please start your He IS Able cards or projects.  The link will soon be up!  Link it and leave a comment.  Who knows, I may add some extra goodies to the package!  You are surely going to want to leave a comment to win this card next week!  Incredible!

I hope to get in my art room to play before Friday, so I will have a few cards to share with you.  I am going Bonkers not playing with my paper and ink and stamps...  Be blessed, and I hope you enjoy this very special time.

A HUGE Thank You to Chris for giving us a link to post your cards and projects to possibly win the 6 Month Anniversary Give-Away!

Christmas Feelings and Our 6 Month Anniversary Challenge!

Hi Everyone~

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.  It surely is a special time to take into our hearts.  So many details all coming together perfectly to let it be just as we were told it would be...just like the shepherds in the field.  They believed also.

I apologize in advance for any typos.  I have a super-bad migraine today, and can barely see the screen or the keys.  Spell Check helps but sometimes the word can still be the wrong word.  Maybe I meant to say "boy" and I wrote "toy," it does not see it as an error.  Please bear with me.  I have some very exciting news to share about our 6 Month Anniversary for the He IS Able Blog!

Today you will find:
  • 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, Psalm 31:24,  Deuteronomy 33:27, Psalm 147:3
  • Feelings at Christmas Time
  • The He IS Able Blog's 6 Month Anniversary Challenge!
  • "Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. " Psalm 31:24
I have something weighing heavily on my heart. I want to share it with you. You may know about it...perhaps it is a completely unique thought that has never crossed your mind. I feel a responsibility to share it. I hope you understand, it is not a typical Christmas time post.  Here goes:

"Merry Christmas!"  "Happy Holiday!"  "Isn't Christmas the best time of the year?"   "Happy New Year!"  "Feliz Navidad!"  It goes on and on...all of these merry or joyous greetings.  People say them to the cashiers that they don't even usually greet.  They say them to the person a few cubicles down..."Have a Merry Christmas!"  "Oh, I do hope you enjoy playing with those new Grand-babies of yours!  Christmas is surely for children!"

I want to remind everyone...that even though Christmas is a day of the ultimate Joy, there are many who have feelings of sadness, depression, even suicide during the holidays.
Now, I pray that you all had an incredible Christmas with family and friends, and closeness, and that you celebrated the Miraculous birth of our Savior, Jesus.  If you had a day like this...you are fortunate...blessed.  I am very happy for you!

However, many people are not feeling joy this time of year. The AA rooms are usually busting out of the seams this time of year. People choosing not to drink again. That is not what this is about...unless it should be for you, or someone you love. (Email me if you would like info on AA or Al-anon.)  It was in the AA rooms that I learned a lot of what I want to share.

This information is something I learned long ago. Both of my grandmothers passed away in December one year after each other. It brings great sadness to me. One of them was still Jewish, which adds tremendous sadness and guilt to me. I  was also assaulted in December, and re-live that every year. Many people have loved ones who may have passed away this year, and they don't know how to "do" Christmas without them.  Perhaps, a loved one passed away even 25 years ago and they still grieve this time of year. Some people  may have gone or be going through divorce. Another type of loss...even if it was their idea! It is difficult...it is new.  There are people that really don't have the resources for the most minimal of things...let alone to buy gifts or cookies. There are Veterans who sadly, still live in "the" war in their minds. So, if you are one who is feeling like any of these people, or many other people with other trials and sadness. Or if you are just so overwhelmed with "how" Christmas is supposed to look like and feel...you are not alone.

It is a time of Joy that Jesus came here as a little babe, to Save us and Love us.  And, you can still have great sadness over other issues. So, please do not feel "alone."  You can feel a combination of feelings, too.

Deuteronomy 33:27

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!"

If you fall into this category, instead of the over flowing with bubbly talk and song! You are where you should be...especially if you are in the arms of Jesus. Please know, He will help you...just ask Him.

You need not stay in this category forever. Even if it is a mental illness, there is hope. There is always HOPE. Always a way out!  Especially with our Loving Lord, Jesus the Christ. But, please, be yourself. Happy or not. Just be honest with your emotions...share if you want...or just be honest with yourself about being sad, but promise to keep others and yourself safe...not matter what! If it becomes dangerous...call 911 and tell them...do not wait. They will help you.  Think of all of the people who care for you, though you may be incapable of feeling it right now.  Suicide is NEVER the answer.  NEVER!  And, for those of you who may be grieving over someone who did take their own life.  Jesus can help you with your suffering, also.  He is a BIG and MIGHTY Lord, and capable of ALL things.  I am so sorry for your loss.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3

I hope I have had clarity to write. There is no "Correct" way to feel right now is my point. Every step you take...to step out of it...is wonderful. And, if you have Jesus Christ in your life as Lord and Savior...He can change anything! Even if you feel that your sadness is too big for anyone to change it.

If you do not know Jesus in your heart as your Lord, your Messiah, then simply type that in the comment box or email me. I will be honored to help lead you to a life full of HOPE and love and joy...as well as some sadness, and grief...but you will have Jesus on your side.  Jesus is Victorious in His Battles.  He will fight for you!  He loves you already!

I care. I pray for each of you...the joyous, the sad, the happy, the homeless, the grief stricken, those with problems in their lives that seem so big. I pray for those of you who know Jesus Christ, and for those of you who don't. I pray that you will seek help if you need it. I pray that you will be honest with yourself, especially, about how you are truly feeling.  I will be happy to help carry some of your burden.  He-- Jesus the Christ, can carry your burden for you.  He already has.  I pray that any of you who find yourself in one of the above situations will seek help, or at least let me know, so I can pray. I have some friends who I pray with daily, with your permission--ONLY, I would have them join in praying for you.  Otherwise, it is between you, me and Lord Jesus.

If you are feeling like you want to help somehow.  Pray.  Read the Bible.  Watch for signs.  Don't "make someone feel "jolly," try to accept their feelings however they may be.  Volunteer...go read the Christmas Story to someone in a Nursing Home, or in the hospital.  That is such a wonderful thing to do. Just go to the nurses station and ask if there is anyone who hasn't had a visitor, and ask if you can spend a bit of time with you.  Introduce yourself, and ask if they would like to listen to the Christmas Story, or a different section of the Bible, or just talk.  And, then just listen...don't offer any advice unless you are a professional...and then be careful!!  And, you will not only be blessing them.  You will be amazed...by the time you are back in your car...you will feel blessed yourself.

I pray that everyone have a Happy New Year with Jesus being the focus of the year!  Thank you for letting me share that.

My Christmas Post...early!

Hello Everyone~

I hope you have all of your shopping done, cards out, things wrapped...and have had your flu shot.  It has taken hold of my 2 youngest Grandsons.  I feel quite a bit under the weather as well.  I am praying that we will all be able to celebrate together on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day.  I would really appreciate your prayers for Gregory and Matthew Thomas.  For me, I have had a migraine that has been getting worse for 2 weeks.

There is sadly, no "Card of the Week" drawing today, nor "Special Drawing" because there was not one comment this past week.  I know you are all busy, I understand. I spent the entire day wrapping yesterday.  I just so look forward to hearing your comments....your thoughts about the sharing for the day.  I hope you will catch up on the posts you have missed.

I decided that I will be taking Friday off from blogging this week.  The message for today is so wonderful, so educational, so full of love...that we could read it every day for a month and keep learning something new.   Now, some of you have seen it...some of you have heard it.  I ask you to drink it in...word by word, line by line.  It is my MOST FAVORITE Christmas Story anywhere.

Before then, I would like to pray.  I hope you will join me.

Dear Lord, I thank You for Immanuel..."God with us."  You are amazing.  I thank You for letting us all meet together and learn more and more about You.  Lord Jesus, I pray that each of us will remember to share the true meaning of Christmas with our loved ones, with strangers, with friends who are still lost...but may celebrate the commercial-type of Christmas, they may have good will and cheer, and still not know You.  I thank You for your Word.  I thank You, Lord for loving us so much more than we deserve.  Thank you for forgiving us, and making us cleaner than snow.  Lord, I pray that everyone that this blog touches through reading, through receiving cards, or give-aways, or anyone that is related to one of our guests will have a safe, memorable and meaningful Christmas!  In Your Holy Name, the name of  Jesus, I pray these things.  Amen.

OK--THIS is my favorite Christmas story:

Luke 2:1-21

"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.  (This was the first census that took place while [a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.)  And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.  While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom
       his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let ’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.  When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,  and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.  But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told."

I think the part I like most of this Scripture is that when the angel appears to the shepherds in the field...the shepherds listen.  And as soon as the Heavenly Host...which I believe means-- all of the angels from Heaven--(it even says when they returned to Heaven.)  The shepherds...quickly gathered their their sheep...and off they went!  They didn't wait for day light...they heard the Message...and they were obedient...off they went!  How wonderful!  I pray that I can be as obedient as them.  And, imagine the Heavenly Host!  Wow!  It is all of the angels from Heaven...gathered together...at one time.  I wish I was there! Don't you?

And, what a reward for them...they were among the first to see our King, our Lord...our Messiah!  Oh, I love this Scripture so much.  Which Christmas Verse is your favorite?  How about letting me know in the comment section?

I will not be here on Christmas Eve Day or Christmas...I am taking the time to really be with my family...and to spend some serious study time with our Lord. I hope you will be back on Monday!  I will be here.  There is a very special event next week.  I won't say which day...it may not be one of our regular days...but be sure to leave a comment!

Precious, Lord Jesus, I pray that you all share the Good news of the Great Joy...with others who don't know about Him, truly.  It is up to us! Prayed in Jesus' name. Amen.

Be blessed!  Merry Christmas to All!

He IS Able,
Traci Starkweather

p.s.  Please let me know what Christmas Scripture is your favorite in the comment section.  And, just so you can get a jump on next week's things...please tell us one thing that works for you in this blog.  Is the the Card Give-Away?  Is it the challenges?  Is it posts from other books and columns.  Is it when we have a guest writer?  A Testimony?  Have you learned anything from this post.  It is going to have some changes next year...and I want to keep the things that are working for you...are helping you find the excitement in being a Christian again.  So, that will be a question coming up...but you can answer if you would like of course!

Merry Christmas my Friends!

Give with Faith! Special "Card of the Week" Drawing on Wednesday...leave a comment to qualify!

Hi Everyone~

Was your weekend full of shopping?  Christmas parties?  Church programs?
Did you spend your weekend out with friends?  Or standing in long lines at the mall?

Today was one of your days to write the post...if you wanted to share about Christmas in your life.  If you have time to share about Christmas in your life, or Family Traditions, or tell us about your first Christmas being married, or what Christmas was like in another country, or during war, we would love to hear about it!  You still have time to write...you could do it in honor of someone, or in memory of someone...or to thank someone.  Or, I think writing about it with the purpose of sharing it here...is a good reason.  I believe that when people read your story...it will inspire them.  Don't worry, no heavy pressure.  Just write from your heart, and it will!

You can all mail me your writing. It could be just a paragraph...or pages!  TraciStarkweather@gmail.com  I'd love to share your post on Monday...please have it to me by Sunday 4:00pm.  (Send it by December 30th, and I will post your special thoughts in a special post.)

Instead of hearing from one of you today...I thought with all of the present giving going on, we would all benefit from reading one of Dr. Jack Graham's columns.  I thank the Crosswalk Organization for allowing me to reprint Dr. Graham's column here on the He IS Able blog.

Give With Faith!                                                          September 9, 2010

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...."--Matthew 6:19-20

"Most of us have read the story in Scripture about the widow who gave all she had of this world's goods to the temple treasury.

Now be honest, have you ever wondered how she could do something like that... give her last coins to the Kingdom? I'll tell you how.

She could give her all because she looked beyond her earthly existence, as meager as it was, and saw a city of gold! Her treasure wasn't in this world, but the next. Jesus put it this way, " Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...."

The way you use your money absolutely reveals whether your hope is in the here and now, in earthly possessions, or in heaven. In this life, your money either works for the Kingdom of God or it controls you.

Determine to use your money to serve God's purposes now. Put it to work to win the lost, to send missionaries where they're needed, to build the Church, and to feed the poor.

Give with faith to the priorities of heaven and trust God to meet your needs!"

What a wonderful column!  Isn't this pertinent for Christmas?  There are so many people in our own areas that would love a warm coat or blanket...or a soup kitchen that could use some help...NOT JUST ON CHRISTMAS.

There are people around the world, including the United States, that could benefit with books to read, or school supplies, or clean water to drink.  All of those things can be given by visiting the Hunger Site...or one of the other Sites that are nested with that site.  Visit The Hunger Site, and click on the rectangle on the screen.  That alone will give people food,or whatever that Site specializes in.

If you shop in their amazing stores you will see things like the most beautiful jewelry, interesting art and clothing from nations around the world, your purchases help the artists make a living...and it also donates to the Site that you chose as in the: Literacy Site, Breast Cancer Site, Rain Forest Site, Children's Health and Animal Rescue Site.

And, talk about taking care of each other... there is a special section called "Gifts that Give More" you can buy "Plant a Garden of Health in Rwanda" for $15, "Supply Clean Water" to a village for $28, or "Liberate Girls from Indentured Servitude for $50"!

Now, wouldn't it be wonderful to give a gift that really gives?  And, your friend or family member receives  a certificate saying that he/she has provided____.  Wouldn't it be a great project for your children to raise the money over the next year?  Or make it a family project.  Each of the sites has different "gifts" you can give also.

Look at what you have spent $50 on this year for gifts.  Imagine freeing a young slave child for the same amount?  Amazing.  I love these sites, and I have personally used them to purchase gifts like jewelry, clothing for myself, books for my family...and we have given different gifts like the ones above.  I click on each of these sites once a day.  Every day that I can get up and to the computer. I tell you this not to boast, but to let you know that I have had wonderful experiences with these Sites.

I challenge you to just click on the Site...no name or address or money asked for...each day for the rest of the year.  Please let me know if you are willing to accept this free challenge...that can save lives!  It really does!

I pray that you are all enjoying this time that leads up to Christmas.  And, I pray that you all are learning more and more about Jesus and Yourself, and the relationship the two of you can have together.  Be blessed.

He IS Able,
Traci S.

Immanuel! Shout it from your windows!

Hi Everyone~

I gave you all a taste about today's post on Wednesday.  There is so much exciting information I want to share about the name "Immanuel."  I have always felt that Mary and Joseph were given two different names for their special child. Yet, I know that the Bible does not contradict itself.  EVER.  I have wondered about these two Scriptures for years:

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1-21

"All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet; The virgin will be will child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel--which means, 'God with us.'" Matthew 1:22-23

Now, doesn't that seem like 2 different directions?  It isn't.  I called my church, Northland Church, (located on the right side bar--where you can listen to their awesome sermons if you like), and spoke with Pastor Scott.  I asked him about this, and he gave wonderful insight to this quandary for me!

Quite a while ago we talked about Jesus' name with regard to "Christ" not being his last name.  Remember, "Christ" actually means "Messiah" or "Anointed One."  If you kept that in mind, you may have figured out part of what the Pastor told me!  Jesus is a regular name like Bob or Joe.  In fact, it is still used as people's first names all over the world today.

He then went on to tell me that names like "Immanuel" which means "God with us."  (Matthew Chapter 1)  Is referring to one of Jesus' attributes, or it describes His character.  The same thing goes with "Wonderful Counselor,"  "Mighty God," "Everlasting Father" and "Prince of Peace."

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  Isaiah 9:6

Does that answer that question?  I hope so!  If not, let me know, and I will look into it further...happily!

Now, let's look at the name of Immanuel.  I used Ann Spangler's book called, Praying the Names of Jesus in addition to my Life Application Bible.  "God with us", Immanuel, "is one of the most comforting names or titles of Jesus," says Ms. Spangler.   Literally, it translates to "with us is God."  But, Matthew said in Chapter One, "God with us."
Now, "God with us" does not mean that our lives are going to be a piece of cake.  It doesn't mean that God will agree with us on every prayer request.  We can still have failure in any area of our lives.  However, it does mean that we will never be alone to face the day!  It does mean that Jesus the Christ will not withhold the help we need to do His will.  THAT is wonderful. Please take a look at that again.  If we are indeed doing His will, he will not withhold the help we need to do it!  What a wonderful name that is!  Immanuel!  Please remember this not only at Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, but keep it in mind when you are faced with temptation.  He IS with you!  Think about it when you are feeling so lonely in this world.  The Prince of Peace IS with you-indeed!

I have not received an email from anyone wanting to share a Christmas memory, or hope, or why they love Immanuel!  Sharing here is a great way to serve the Lord.  I would think there are some Christians that visit here looking for hope.  I would think there are some Christians here that are Christians in name only...because they were told they were Christians when they were children.  I honestly believe that reading your stories can offer these people what they need to make a decision to live for Jesus.  I hope to hear from YOU before Sunday afternoon.  Just share from the heart. You could share about when you first came to know the Lord.   Remember, if you are doing something in His will, He will not withhold the help you need to do it.

Immanuel!  I feel like shouting this name or title out of the windows!  I hope that your Holy Spirit is shouting it inside of you.  Reminding you  about the reason for this season.

I thank each of you for being here today.  I pray that you all have a safe and blessed weekend.  There will be posts next week.  I hope to hear from you.

Just wondering...how many years have you been Saved?  Leave it in the comment section, if you would.  I am curious how many Christian Christmases we have actually had.  Also, let me know if you may be interested in helping out with the blog now and then.  Thank you all so very much!

Winner Announced! Encouraging our Soldiers!

Hi Everyone~

Wow! It is almost Christmas!  On Monday, I told you about a study I am doing to prepare my heart for Christmas.  I am learning about the different names that Jesus had during this wonderful time.  Today, I found out an answer to a question I have had since before I was Saved.  Perhaps you have had the same question for all of these years?  I hope to answer it for you.

Today you will find:
  • Were Mary and Joseph told to call Him Immanuel or Jesus? Friday!
  • My gratitude for your prayers, and the result of the PDCC DT search.
  • Card of the Week Winner Announced!
  • Matthew  1:21-23,  Isaiah 8:10, John 14:15-21, Isaiah 9:6
  • A Unique Way to Bless Our Soldiers!
"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  Isaiah 9:6

I saw some beautiful prayers in the comment section. I thank you all for praying for me about the PDC Design Team Search. Please know that my heart is at peace about this. I know that if I am "supposed" to get it...if it is   His Will for me...then, I will get the spot. If not, He has other things in store for me. PLEASE know I appreciate your sweetness in praying for me. I will always be thankful for your prayers.

He has let me have my dream of having this ministry. I thought when I became disabled that I wouldn't be able to be a part of a ministry. I have been so blessed learning more about Him, getting to know all of you. He has provided for me in such amazing ways. I will share about this one day soon--another post.

I did hear from Julie from the Play Date Cafe Challenge last night.  I was not chosen to be a part of this Design Team.  It is OK.  I am disappointed- a human reaction.  But, I am at peace with the decision.  In fact, I feel that the Lord has wanted me to add several new concepts to this blog! I am very excited about this! In fact, there will be opportunities for you to help pray, share, or help this blog in other ways, if you are willing. More details in January.  If you may be interested in helping this blog grow, please email me, or share it in the comment section.  I will NOT take it as a commitment as I haven't shared the details yet--don't worry! This would be the perfect time to share ideas you may have or what you would like to see here on the blog!  And, please pray for me to have clear guidance from Our Lord Jesus.

There is so much exciting information I want to share about the name Immanuel, and the insight I learned from one of Northland's Pastors today!  You see it seems to me that Mary and Joseph were given two different names to name their special child. How did they choose?  Well, since I have not had a moment to make any cards this week I will share this information...on Friday!  Please join us! I am so excited to share this!  Even if you know already-- please stop by!

A Unique Way to Share with Our Soldiers

One of our regular readers, Cathy, shared a great opportunity with me to tell all of you!  It is a unique way to bless our soldiers! It doesn't matter what your opinion about this war is...it is about sharing Good Will.   I went to this Xerox site and chose one of their many designs for a postcard.  (The great art is by children.)  I then entered just my first name and the state I live in...you can put your last name, I chose not to do so.  Then you choose one of several messages they will print out for you.  I chose one that offered my prayers.  Off it goes to soldiers!  He or She will be blessed by this quick reminder that Xerox is sending on your behalf.  And, according to Cathy...and myself...neither of us has had our email boxes full of Xerox advertisements! I have not received one! Please at least check it out:

Isaiah 8:10 reads, "Be encouraged because no one can prevail against you if God is with you."

Announcing the Winner of the He IS Able Card of the Week!

All of the comments from the past week were entered into the drawing.  One comment was randomly chosen...the Winner of the He IS Able Card of the Week is...   SeaMom!  Congratulations!  Please email me your address at my new email:  TraciStarkweather@gmail.com  that way I will know that you would like to receive this incredibly beautiful Vintage-style card made and donated by Janaria.  If for some reason, you do not want to receive this card, just don't email your address to me. (Please do NOT put your address in the comment section!)  I hope you will use the card to bless others by sharing about Jesus the Christ.  Our Mission Statement is:  Sharing His Love, His Word, His Gift of Salvation through Card Give-Aways!  It would be wonderful if you used the card to fulfill our Mission Statement!

I need to confess this to each of you.  I have fallen behind in sending out cards and the CD's that people have won on this blog.  I am extremely sorry.  I take this blog seriously.  I appreciate each of you, and yet, I did not get your things out to you in a timely manner. I will do better.  This is part of the ministry...and getting those cards out is as important as what I write about our Lord, Jesus the Christ.  I am guilty of procrastinating. I kept saying, "I will do that tomorrow."  Tomorrow would come...and I would say the same thing.  And, time is flying by.  I do apologize.  I will change.  I ask that you please forgive me.  I can get the cards out to everyone tomorrow...the postal woman already came today.  The CD's will need to wait until Saturday, when my husband can drive me to the post office.  He is at work before they open and after the close, and there is no bus service where we live.  I really am sorry for doing this.  I do appreciate each of you.  I am so grateful that you spend time here each week...Monday, Wednesday and Friday...I pray for the right things to share, and that you are all well, and have hearts to receive what the Lord wants you to receive.  I apologize, and hope you will forgive me.  Please, do not let me off the hook.  I did wrong, and there are consequences.  Please get ready to write those cards out...sharing about His Amazing Love.  You will have them soon.

"Remember that Jesus will not leave us orphans. He will show himself to those who love Him." John 14:15-21

Many of you asked about the fundraiser we (those of you who have helped by donating your beautiful cards, envelopes, announcing it on your blog and for your prayers) had this past Sunday.  This event was similar to a craft fair.  It is very different from the 24 hour American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Fundraiser in April.

Sadly, the festival on Sunday was canceled due to winds exceeding 30 miles per hour, rain and temperatures that went into the 30's and 40's.  This may be normal where you live, but we are in Florida!  The tent could not even go up because the wind would have ripped it and torn it down.  Don't Worry!  The cards were all safe, wrapped in plastic, in baskets by theme...safe from the elements.  It's OK.  This will put us ahead for the April Fundraiser, plus my Mom is going to sell cards at all of the meetings between now and then.  They will be sold! It will just be later.  I am praying to receive an additional 100 sets of 10 cards plus envelopes, or individual cards plus envelopes to raise $5,000 by the end of April for this worthwhile charity.  So, please, keep those cards and envelopes coming.  I promise they are all safe, dry and still gorgeous.  In fact, my Mom sold some when a couple neighbors dropped by their home for a minute!  They couldn't resist seeing those incredible cards of yours! Congratulations on all of your efforts!   I thank you all for your part. The holidays soon will be over...the lull may be the perfect time to make some cards.  You are all appreciated!

I hope you will ALL be here on Friday.  I am so excited about what He has revealed to me.  I will share that on Friday!  Thank you for being here.  I apologize for the length of this post.  I had a lot to share with you.  God bless!

I always love to read your comments!  hint! hint!  God bless you all!

Traci's Favorite Christmas...So Far!

Hi Everyone~

Today, I wanted to share my Favorite Christmas Story.  On Wednesday, I'd like to share about one of the important names in the Bible.  Immanuel.  I have been studying the different names for Jesus--especially around Christmas time. It has been great for me, as it was a different study than I usually do at this time of year. I will save the Immanuel Scriptures for Wednesday.   I hope you will join me here.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

My Favorite Christmas was my first Christmas. I was 29 years-old. I was just Saved in July. I had one decoration. My friend at work, gave me a beautiful yet simple Nativity set. I set it on my TV, so I would think of Him whenever I looked that way...and it was the only furniture in the room!

The man I was seeing surprised me by bringing me to a store, and bought me a not-too-tall Christmas Tree. It smelled so incredibly wonderful. I live in Florida, and all of the plants are floral smelling. Not that deep mountain pine, wintry, wonderful smell! That night we put the white glass lights he bought me to go with it.

Later that night, I was all alone, my son, Joshua, was at his father's home. I took out my Bible to Luke Chapter 2...and I laid down under the tree. I read as long as I could until I was sleepy. I put the Bible in my room, and climbed back under the tree. I slept soundly there! The next night I did the same thing. Read, Prayed, and went to sleep under the tree. I promise this is the truth. That tree probably lost only 50 needles until I stopped sleeping under it, reading His Word under it, and praying under it...it was APRIL of the next year!

It was the most amazing, and REAL Christmas I have enjoyed in a long time. Just myself and the Lord, and His Word, and one of my favorite creations of His...a tree.

Oh--when we pulled the tree out to the dumpster...it lost just about every needle!!! We left a long track!   True Story!

I pray that you are all taking time to know the Lord even better during this special time of Advent.  I would love to read one of your Favorite Christmas stories, or a reason why you are so grateful to know the Lord.  Please email it to me at my NEW EMAIL address on the sidebar.  I will post your story on Mondays...until we run out!  Stories must be received by December 31st to be included in this years 1st Annual He IS Able Christmas Story Time.

News and More News!

Hi Everyone~

Well, I have good news and news.  The news is that I have spent the week preparing one card over and over all week.  I did not post it, because you have seen different takes of it.  It has the cardinal from the "Sing for Joy" stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs on it, and several different sheets of Holiday and basic paper...and a bow.  It is just laid out differently.  I will show you the finished project next week.  I can not believe I do not have my cards out yet!

The good news is what I read when I saw this week's Play Date Cafe message this week.  (You know the team that I have tried out to join their Design Team...this is what they wrote.)

"Our senior team have had our hands full...We know that there are 118 of you who are anxiously waiting to hear back regarding our Design Team Call.

The US/UK time difference makes the communication take quite a bit longer at this busy time of the year.  There is SO much terrific talent that we are
rearranging a few things to make room for six designers (instead of five) AND we are working on a few creative ways to give more of these wonderful people an opportunity to be featured.

So thank you for your patience...In case you are wondering, we have not contacted anyone regarding a spot on the team...so if you have not heard from us, neither have the other 117!  HANG TIGHT....SOON!!!!"

So, there is still a small chance that I could be one of the people they are trying to make room.  I have prayed about this, and I know that the Lord will put me where He wants me, and where I can best serve Him.  I would not be giving up the He IS Able blog, in fact, there are plans cooking to change a couple of things in the New Year for the blog.  I really feel that the Lord wants this to be a blog that belongs to everyone...where people share their Love for the Lord, and lean on each other when problems arise.  I am working to facilitate that happening even more in the new year.  Do you know that December 30th is our 6 month anniversary together.  It's coming soon!

Have a wonderful day, and please remember what Christmas is really about.  Don't get caught up in the trappings of business.  Love.  That's who God is...share it even more...perhaps, in the most unlikely places.  Perhaps you are ready to forgive someone, and extend a hand of friendship.  Perhaps, you can mend family situations...and offer unconditional love throughout your family.
Perhaps, your gifts this year, will be donations to organizations that give water wells to the poor areas in the world, or pay for materials for a school where the children are too poor to buy them, in areas where they drink dirty water, and become ill, and sometimes die.  That would be showing love.  (If anyone wants a list of charitable organizations we use, who do things like this, I will be happy to share their names and links with you.)  Share your Love...  perhaps you do that in a unique way...maybe share that in the comment section...or anything else, of course.

There are also 2 posts before this(they appear below this one)...including the "Card of the Week" Winner...where it does not seem that anyone has even peeked at the posts.  I would love to know you were there!  Please leave a comment...even a "hello!"

Thank you for being here.  I can hear those pencils writing out your Christmas memories...please email me at my new email address...on the side bar...and let me know you will be sending your memories for a Monday posting this year.  There are 2 spaces.  It could also be about your love for the Lord. If you are Saved, I am sure you have this.  All that is required is to write from the heart!

Have a blessed weekend!

A Music Treat and What Exactly is Love All About?

Hi Everyone~

A special music treat that my friend Cathy sent to me in an email for this week.  I don't listen to the radio...just CD's...so I was so glad to hear this!  Check it out...you will be very glad that you do.  Listen to the words...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_883236&v=OExXItDyWEY&feature=iv

I chose the following article from Dr. Jack Graham to share with you today.  I hope you enjoy it!

The Difference Between the World's Love and God's Love
November 17, 2010

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast' it is not arrogant or rude.  It does not insist on its own way;  it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong- doing, but rejoices with the truth.  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never ends.  As for prohecies, they will pass away;  as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

A while back, I was reading a few definitions of love.  One teenager said, "That love is an inward inexpressibility of an outward all-overishness" (whatever that means!).
Somebody else said, "Love is a feeling you feel when you feel you're going to feel a feeling you never felt before."

But you and I know that love is not just a feeling—it's a commitment! Now, human love says, "I love you if you love me" or "I love you because you're good-looking." But you should be careful to not fall into that kind of love. When you get married, are you going to love your spouse unconditionally? Are you going to feel the same about him/her at 50 as you did when you were 21?

True love—God's love—is not an "if" love or a "because-of love. No, it's an "in-spite-of" love!

God loves you in spite of the fact that you are a sinner. Because of our sin, all of us appear to God as smelly, dirty, and ugly creatures. But praise the Lord that his love is not based upon what he can get out of it!

The Scripture tells us that "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). The love of God is unconditional, unchangeable, and forever! And when the love of God is in us, then we have the same wonderful love to share with everyone else.

LOVE OTHERS WITH GOD'S LOVE IN SPITE OF THEIR SHORTCOMINGS.

Do you know that love-- that only Jesus Christ can give you?  Do you long to be able to share with Him everything...your hopes, your dreams, your hurts...your love?  If you do not know Jesus Christ as the Lord of All, as your personal Messiah, or Savior...email me, and I will pray with you.  Call a Christian friend and tell them that you would like to pray to make Jesus Christ the center of your life, and your Lord.  Call a church and tell them that you are a sinner, and you want to be forgiven, as you can only be, with Jesus Christ as your Savior.  It will happen.  If you want Him in your life...He will be there, and He will not leave nor forsake you, once you pray the prayer asking Him to enter your life.  He will love you unconditionally!  And, He will give you eternal life. THAT is love.

Please leave a comment if you have recently accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior in the past year.  I would love to celebrate with you!

By the way, my email address is changing by the end of the week...it is now:
TraciStarkweather@gmail.com

Thank you to Dr. Jack Graham, for allowing me to reprint this column of his.

A Christmas Story and Ash2Ash CD Give-Away Winners Announced!!

Hi Everyone!

Are you all ready for Christmas?  Are you singing along with the Christmas songs you hear in your head?  Have you decided which Christmas Scripture you are going to read to the rest of your family, on Christmas Eve?  Is your heart ready to be closer to Him this Christmas?

Today you will hear a wonderful story of Christmas shared by one of my dear friends, Michele!
And, 2 winners for the Ash2Ash CD's will be announced!

I have a wonderful Christmas story to share with you from one of my dear friends. Michele is such a great friend.  She is one of the first to offer when there is a need...and her story is wonderful. I was going to post Christmas Scriptures here this week...but I found one I thought fit this story even better!  Of course, I love those Christmas Scriptures! Are you going to email me a story about a Christmas past, or hopes for a Christmas future, or your favorite Scripture about Jesus' birth and why?  I am going to post them each Monday for this month.  It doesn't have to be fancy...just from the heart.  It could be about something else, as long as it has to do something with the real Christmas.  Let me know...email me to reserve your date!  You can do this anonymously, in Honor of Someone, in Memory of Someone, or just to share!  up to you!

Here is that story...grab your cup of tea and pull up to the screen...
***************************************************************
"About 8 years ago, My mom wanted to get a new Christmas tree (artificial) but their old one was in good condition.  Dad didn't think the new tree was necessary.  Well, they had a discussion and Mom won that one!  So they purchased a tree.  Dad, a few days later--was in the garage and said he really felt the URGE to bring the tree to the Salvation Army.  And this went on for a bit--about a half hour.  Then Dad said it was clear "bring the tree to the Salvation Army."  So he brought it and walked it inside.  He showed the sales lady and then a woman walked in behind him with her young son.  And she told him, "Oh my, you know God told me to come to the Salvation Army today and I could get a tree."  My Dad turned to the sales lady and said, "I know I said I was going to give this to you."  And the lady said, "No, it's not ours yet.  You can do what you want with it."  And sure enough he gave the lady the tree.  She was so happy and she said the whole time she was waiting in the car and couldn't believe when he arrived.  And she couldn't believe it was free.

It's amazing to me how God works.  This person was just sitting and waiting because God told her to.  And Dad was so happy he listened.  He said it made his day and Christmas season!"
**************************************************************
What a beautiful story.  I love tear-jerkers that are because you are happy,
don't you?  Thank you so much for sharing, Michele!  Doesn't the following Scripture describe the Dad to you?  It did me.

"Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."  1 Peter 3:4

OK--- The 2 winners of the Ash2Ash: "He Will Meet You Where You Are" CD's are...

Savannah and Nikki!!!!!!!!!  Congratulations to both of you!  You were each randomly selected to win one of the "He Will Meet You Where You Are" CD's by Christian Music Artists Ash2Ash!!!   Savannah and Nikki,  just send me an email with your current snail mail address, and I will get this wonderful music CD out to you.  I love it!

For those of you who did not win one of the Ash2Ash CD's, just go to the Ash2Ash Website and you can listen to their music and even order some Christmas gifts for someone on your list, or yourself!

Thank you to Ash2Ash for "gifting" The He IS Able blog with 2 of their CD's to give away!  We greatly appreciate it!

Friday means "Cards by Traci" and Ash2Ash CD Give-Away!

Hi Everyone~

It's Friday, and I am finally feeling as if I am in full swing today!  I had a night- mare that woke me up about 2:30 this morning.  I couldn't get back to sleep, so I did what every good Paper Crafter does this time of year... I started making some cards!  This was a GOOD thing, because I have been so behind in things this week!  (again. lol)  I didn't have any new cards to share with you on "Cards by Traci" Day.  I will be napping shortly!  lol

I hope you already know...but if not, you are going to be very excited to know that the wonderful music of Ash2Ash is being given-away to 2 winners here at the He IS Able blog!  Isn't that fabulous?!!

"Do not neglect your gift" 1Timothy 4:14

Well, Ray Jones and Terry Metz of Ash2Ash do not neglect their gift in any way!  I should know, I have been singing along to their latest CD... a lot!  It is called,  "He Will Meet You Where You Are"  and that is also one of the best songs on the CD...in my opinion!

Just think about the name of that song.  Isn't it incredible to think that our Lord, Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, the Great Physician is never too busy to meet us where we are?  Sometimes, especially these couple of weeks right here, we may get too busy or tired to spend the amount of time and the quality of time we want to spend in prayer...and then, in silence.  That is the second part in any good communication...speaking and more importantly...listening.
(Sleeping doesn't count!)

"Be Still and Know I am God." Psalm 46:10

The CD is filled with amazing music, that you will sing to Praise Him, to think about your relationship with Him, and to share about Him.  You can hear their music here at their website--- Ash2Ash

This is their 4th CD...so they REALLY know what they are doing!  Here is a little info on their music: "This CD transitions Ash2Ash to its new, fuller sound in the contemporary gospel genre. Features 10 songs -- 9 original works and Ash2Ash's much-requested "Mainline" medley. This CD features Ray Jones and Terry Metz. "

I LOVE their Mission Statement, it is so personal and so meaningful.  Here it is:  "Our mission is to lift up the name of our Lord Jesus Christ by sharing God’s love through testimony and song. Our Prayer is that our music will touch the hearts of the lost and strengthen Christians in their faith."

"Come let us Sing for Joy to the Lord" Psalm 95:1

Great News!  Ash2Ash has given us 2 CD's to give-away...so 2 winners will be announced on MONDAY!  Here is how you can win:  Leave a comment. Include an email. If your name is randomly drawn...YOU WIN!!!! All comments must be received by 8pm Eastern time on Sunday evening! I will send it out to you!! Be sure to stop by and see if you won either of the Ash2Ash CD's!  And, be sure to check back on Wednesday to see if you won this week's beautiful "Card of the Week" by the woman with a wonderful and giving heart, Monica.  So, we have lots to be grateful for this week, at the He IS Able blog.  Thank you so much Ash2Ash, and Monica for this week's gorgeous card.  I love pansies!  (Too bad I can't win it!)

OK---Cards by Traci...

This card is special to me, because the snowman figure belongs to one of my nieces.  She stamped a whole bunch of snowmen for me!  I used a combination of markers and watercolor pencils to color them.  I then used some really beautiful paper just on top of the SU! Not Quite Navy, it is from 3Birds, and it really looks like a sky to me...the colors really vary...and, "What's that??"  It looks as if it is going to snow!  These precious stickers by Punch Studio have 3 layers, pastel colors and a dab or 10 of diamond Stickles I added to them.

Happy Chanukkah, Mom and Dad!  This must be the most difficult card I have tried to photograph.  It has the shiniest silver ribbon on the SU! Not Quite Navy card stock.  And, the beautifully made 5 layer decal on the right and the 4 layer decal on the left have this wonderful thin, but very glittery, layer in silver that just make the camera want to go "BOING!!!"  I paper pierced the gold paper, and scalloped it (can it be a verb?) in the easiest way...with my Crafter's Companion Paper Cutter.  I just put the blade on the end of the cutter. Close the lid, and spin it around until I get the cut I want!  It even does the "-----" thing on coupons and more...oh, so much more!  I love it!  Thank you, my
"sis-tah!"

I love this piece...it is almost an heirloom, I have had some of these pieces so long!  I used a white base for the card, and used SEI's Glitzmas paper from last year. (I think.)  It is beautiful...swirls in the background...a touch of ultra fine glitter here and there.  I love the bright colors, and how they vary in shades.  I made the bottom scalloped...you know how...faster than scissors!  Here comes the "heirloom like" part...I used 2 poinsettias that I cut and outlined in silver glitter 3 years ago...and then cut 2 large holly leaves, into 3 poinsettia leaves...from the 2 years ago!  lolSU!  (You could tell it was cut by scissors, couldn't you?)

That's it for this week!  PLEASE leave a comment!  You have until Sunday night at 8pm to be eligible to win one of those incredible Ash2Ash CD's.  Two Winners! And, you have until 8pm on Tuesday evening to be eligible for this week's beautiful "Card of the Week!"  Isn't this fun?

A BIG thank you to Ash2Ash for donating the 2 CD's for the give-away, and for giving me permission to quote sections of their website!  Speaking of their website and sections...why don't you listen to one of the selections on their latest CD?  Just to to their site:  Ash2Ash

Ash2Ash CD Give-Away! "Card of the Week" Give-Away!

Hi Everyone~

PDCC#57
I hope you are ready for an exciting day!  We have not one but 2 great give-aways today!  I had to stop and take a time out this this week. I was so busy making cards, working on the Card Drive for the American Cancer Society and trying to get some gifts when I realized I had cut my time with the Lord to bed time, and prayer time for people on my prayer list to a minute hear and there.  Not what I wanted!  Not what I should be giving to the Lord!  He is SO Worthy!  He deserves as much time with Worship that I can give, and I love to pray for the people on my list.  I didn't want to rush through it.  I took this morning off and spent some time with the Lord.  I feel so much better.  I had time to be silent.  I had time to Praise Him, time to ask for advice!  He IS Able...and Mighty...and Worthy...and Magnificent...and more.  Please learn from my lesson.  Adjust your schedules if need be.

The card you see on the top right is made for the Play Date Cafe Challenge.  I told you that I tried out for that Design Team, they are trying to let everyone know if they made it this week.  I will let you know when I find out!  The Lord knows what is best...I'll wait.  This week they challenged us to use the brown, grey and silver.  Brown...easy to find...easy to use.  I added some chocolate colored glitter by PK Glitz over the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress ink that served as the ground.  I used some spiral paperclips given from a friend, as the flower buds, and my Sakura Gel Grey Pen for leaves and stems, the Butterfly...is the star of the show!  I found her next door in the garage sale for a quarter!  I added some Silver Stickles and her wings were already different shades of brown!  Great purchase!  I cut a cloud of grey dp from 3Birds, and stamped a Sentiment by Mother Teresa from a SU! Stamp set named "Butterfly of Happiness."  Let's hope they like it!  I do.

Surprise coming on Wednesday...

He IS Able,
Traci S.

OK--Surprise time!  First let me thank each of you who have been able to send cards for the Card Drive I am doing for the American Cancer Society.  I needed 50 sets by the 8th of this month...we are only 20 sets away!  Congratulations on pulling together and we are almost at our goal.  I thank my friends who also posted this on their blogs and such.  We will make this goal!  Don't worry if we go over the goal...I need 100 sets on hand for the BIG April Event!  (I need the cards by Mid-March.)  All details are on the side bar.  I thank each of you whether you were able to donate at this time...or not.  I can say we are in need of about 300 size A2 envelopes...not square...at this time...otherwise, I will be making some serious envelopes.  Look how the Lord is providing!  He provides in such a big way!  Thank you Lord Jesus!

(I apologize for how late this blog is being posted today.  I have had no Internet power for quite a while!)

Surprise Time!!  (I wish I could add glitter to my typed words...because this is great!)

Who likes Contemporary Christian Music?  Who likes singing along at the top of their voices when you don't think someone else can hear?  Who likes praising the Lord through Music?  Who knows at least one Scripture about Singing for Joy to the Lord?  My friends, you are going to be thrilled!!!!!!

"Do not neglect your gift" 1Timothy 4:14
I have been fortunate to come into contact with Ash2Ash!!!!  I know you have heard of them! Their new CD has such a great name.  It is also the name of an awesome song on the CD.  It is called, "He Will Meet You Where You Are"  Isn't that so moving?  Great name!  Super Song!  It is so true!  I have been listening to their music every day for a month or more...it is really great!
Ash2Ash: "He Will Meet You Where You Are" is their 4th CD!  Here is a little info on their music:
"This CD transitions Ash2Ash to its new, fuller sound in the contemporary gospel genre. Features 10 songs -- 9 original works and Ash2Ash's much-requested "Mainline" medley. This CD features Ray Jones and Terry Metz. "
